Indian Forest Service officer, Mudit Verma, took to social media to share an interesting story and a lesson he learnt from his driver, Kamal, who lost his home to an elephant a year ago.
Undoubtedly, there is enough space for every creature in the world. But instead of coming up with solutions to preserve the animal habitat, humans are destroying it to further their own. With deforestation increasing at an unprecedented pace, human-animal encounters and conflicts are also increasing. It is often seen that wild animals like cheetahs, tigers, crocodiles, and especially elephants stray into areas inhabited by humans in search of food. It is now becoming crucial to understand these creatures to ensure the safety of animals while also benefiting humans. In light of this, an Indian Forest Service officer, Mudit Verma, took to social media to share an interesting story and a lesson he learned from his driver, Kamal, who lost his home a year ago to an elephant, who are known for their deep memories, intelligence, and having a sense of family.
Surprisingly, instead of blaming the elephant and holding a grudge against him, Kamal believed that it was his fault, and he shared his viewpoint and suggestions for getting along with these animals.
IFS Mudit Verma captioned, “Our driver Kamal Ji was telling how last year an elephant destroyed his house. And I was amazed when he said, “It was my mistake. Had I not kept a bunch of bananas in my house, it would have not come” We are trying to learn what people here already know. Love & Co-existence. #wildlife.”

The post was dropped on X (Formally known as Twitter) on October 2 and since being shared it has garnered much appreciation from social media users. In just two days, it amassed more than 4,000 views and scores of likes from its followers.
However, this is not the first time that an elephant and humans have encountered each other. Earlier, IFS Parveen Kaswan dropped a video showing the gentle giant having fun with a forest official vehicle. The video shows how the elephant slowly walks towards the forest’s official vehicle and cleverly closes the jeep’s doors one by one with the help of its trunk, then pushes the four-wheeler for a few seconds and then runs off towards the jungle.
Aren’t these videos enough to uplift our mood?
