Locals say that the water of Dalahi Kund has healing properties for skin ailments.
Some researchers feel that the clapping creates sound waves due to the shallow depth of the pool. Vibrations are created due to these sound waves that cause the water to rise.
There is a unique characteristic of the mysterious places, i.e.- we never know if they are a fact, myth or fiction. That is exactly why mysterious places become the centre of attraction for almost every person in the world. One such place is the Dalahi Kund which is located 27 kilometres from Bokaro city in Jharkhand. What makes this seemingly ordinary pond a bizarre place?
According to reports, it is believed that if you stand in front of this pond and start clapping your hands, the water will rise mysteriously. Scientists have left no stone unturned to unravel the phenomenon behind this mystery but couldn’t succeed. Some of the researchers feel that the clapping creates sound waves due to the shallow depth of the pool. Vibrations are created due to these sound waves that cause the water to rise.
Not only the rise of the water clapping, researchers have also not been able to decode the reason behind its nature. The water is cool in summer and warm in the winter. The origin of the water supply in this pond also remains shrouded in mystery. Water flows into the Garga River, Jharkhand through a nearby canal called Jamui, but the water level in it is so low that it is doubtful whether the pond can be filled or not.
The locals living around the Dalahi Kund also say that its water also has healing properties for skin ailments. Geologists feel that it may be due to the presence of sulfur and helium gases in the water. Dalahi Kund is also known as one of the most famous water reservoirs in India where the idols of Lord Ganesh are immersed every year. It is done during the Makara Sankranti festival because its water is always considered pure.
Dalahi Kund also serves as a revered site for the worship of the deity Dalahi Gosai where people assemble every Sunday for performing religious services. Devotees who worship the goddess Dalahi Gosai have an unshakable commitment to the Dalahi Kund. They believe that bathing in this pond will fulfil all their wishes.
