This celebration commemorates Lord Rama’s victory over the demon king Ravana, marking the end of the nine-day festival of Shardiya Navratri.

This year, Dussehra will be celebrated on October 24. Dussehra presents an opportunity to take certain measures that can bring about various benefits in your life. These actions may alleviate difficulties and bring financial gains. Astrologer and Vastu expert Pramod Kumar Aggarwal from Agra provides insights into some simple remedies for Dussehra that can be highly auspicious for you.

Pramod Kumar Aggarwal suggests nine important measures to remove negative energy from homes on Dussehra. By diligently following these remedies, negative energy can dissipate, family harmony can be enhanced and positive changes may occur in your children’s lives. These measures are designed to bring about overall well-being.

1) To ensure a joyful life, it’s essential to worship with ten everyday items on Dussehra. Additionally, as an act of devotion, consider giving ten items such as food, water, fruits, clothing, salt, ghee, sugar, umbrella, slippers, caps, or sweets to Brahmins or those in need. This practice promotes happiness and contributes to the well-being of others.

2) Place the Goddess Durga idol on a shrine, accompanied by religious and educational books. Perform worship with vermilion (kumkum), turmeric and flowers, involving the children in the ritual.

3) Following the worship of the Shami plant, light a lamp fueled by mustard or sesame oil, and make a water offering.

4) Perform a ritual of worship for both new and old vehicles as well as licenced firearms. After the effigy burning of Ravana, collect partially burnt wood and bring it into your home.

5) During Lord Hanuman’s worship, make offerings of pure ghee and vermilion. Recite the Hanuman Chalisa and Sunderkand as part of the devotion.

6) Create a rangoli in your house’s courtyard and illuminate it with a lamp.

7) Gather all family members in the courtyard and conduct a Havan (sacred fire ritual) while chanting the Gayatri Mantra.

8) In the morning, after cleaning the house, mop the floors with rock salt.

9) Prepare a homemade pudding from either flour or semolina, offer it to God, and distribute it among all family members. Sharing and consuming this Prasad together can foster mutual love and harmony.
