Magnesium is involved in more than 300 enzyme reactions inside the body.
BMJ Journal recently published a report suggesting that magnesium is an essential element when it comes to preventing your heart from various diseases.
The key to a healthy life is a healthy heart. However, with an increase in bad lifestyle choices, a sedentary routine and poor eating habits, the rise in cases of heart attacks has also been witnessed lately. Although there are many factors that contribute to poor heart health and may cause heart attacks, magnesium deficiency is the primary one.
Research suggests that magnesium is involved in more than 300 enzyme reactions inside the body. In addition to that, it also aids in controlling blood pressure, glycemic control and lipid peroxidation. Most importantly, heart health requires a sufficient amount of magnesium to be present inside the body. Not only does it boost immunity and fight diseases, but also contributes to making nerves, muscles, and bones stronger.
BMJ Journal recently published a report suggesting that magnesium is an essential element when it comes to preventing your heart from various diseases. A test was also conducted to understand the role of magnesium in the human body. It was found that 42 per cent of the patients in a hospital, who had magnesium deficiency, developed heart-related diseases. The study also suggested that those with low magnesium levels also had high blood pressure levels.
Researchers said that magnesium is found on the inner surface of the membrane of heart cells. It keeps the arteries smooth and this is how it prevents the muscles from contracting. A few analysts also suggested that consumption of a sufficient amount of magnesium can aid in maintaining blood pressure levels, thereby protecting against the risk of heart attack. To prove its efficiency, patients were given magnesium supplements for four weeks. In the aftermath, a dramatic improvement was witnessed in the blood pressure of the patients.
What To Eat For Magnesium Intake
A magnesium-rich diet is all you need to consume to overcome magnesium deficiency. The foods with abundant magnesium should be a part of your daily meal. One can include almonds and cashews as they are packed with the nutrients. Additionally, food items like soybean, sesame, banana, fish, avocado, tofu etc. can also fulfil the amount of magnesium required to maintain a healthy heart. Wheat and grains are also one of the great sources of magnesium.
