Dulquer Salmaan breaks silence on Rana Daggubati’s viral jibe reportedly directed towards Sonam Kapoor – Top Speed News

Here’s what Dulquer Salmaan had to say about Rana Daggubati’s dig at a ‘big Hindi heroine’, which netizens deduced was for Sonam Kapoor.

Dulquer Salmaan is awaiting the release of his upcoming pan-India crime drama King of Kotha, which releases in cinemas on August 24. While promoting his movie at a pre-release event in Hydeabad, Dulquer was joined by Rana Daggubati. The Baahubali actor took a dig at ‘big Hindi heroine’ for wasting the Sita Ramam actor’s time on sets.

Without naming anyone, Rana had said, “Dulquer was my junior at an acting school. We knew each other from then on. He was doing a Hindi movie, and the producers are my friends. The shoot was happening near my house. I went there to meet Dulquer. While he was standing in the corner with the spot boy, a big Hindi heroine who was doing that movie was engrossed in a phone conversation about shopping in London with her husband. Her lack of focus affected the shots’ quality, frustrating those on set. If I had a bottle in my hand, I would have crushed it. But, Dulquer remained calm and gave as many takes as he was asked.”

When the netizens deduced that she was talking about Sonam Kapoor, they lashed out at the actress for her unprofessionalism while filming The Zoya Factor with Dulquer. The actress was trolled so much that Rana had to issue an apology on his social media handle when he wrote, “I am genuinely troubled by the negativity that has been aimed at Sonam due to my comments, which is totally untrue and were meant entirely in a light-hearted manner. As friends, we often exchange playful banter, and I deeply regret that my words have been misinterpreted. I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt apologies to Sonam and Dulquer, both of whom I hold in great esteem. I hope this clarification puts an end to any speculation and misunderstanding. Thank you for your understanding.”

A day after his apology, Sonam shared a cyptic post on her social media in which she shared a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, the former First Lady of the United States, which read, “Small minds discuss people, average minds discuss event, great minds discuss ideas.” Along with the quote, the Raanjhanaa actress wrote, “Just a little something I’d like some people to know. Especially when discussing things about people that are made up.”

Now, in a recent interview, Dulquer Salmaan has also broken his silence on the whole controversy as he said to Zoom, “It is his (Rana’s) statement, so I don’t want to dive into it. I cherish every one. I feel that I have a wonderful group of friends, including co-actors and industry peers. I’m easygoing; I don’t usually complain, and I’m fine. I believe whatever he chose to say, maybe he wasn’t thinking. That’s why he issued an apology. He’s a close friend, and I think he got concerned that it affected all of us, so he clarified.”
