In an old media interaction, Vijay Sethupathi revealed why he refused to collaborate with Krithi Shetty.
Vijay Sethupathi is one of the most promising talents from the South film industry. The actor has proved his mettle in North with his performance of Kalee Gaikwad in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. Amid the success of Jawan, an old interview of Vijay, where he disclosed his reason for working with a famous leading actress, Krithi Shetty, went viral.
For the unversed, Krithi made her debut in films with the super-hit Uppena. She strengthened her position as a leading female star by starring in Nani’s Shyam Singha Roy and Naga Chaitanya’s Bangarraju. In Uppena, Krithi played Sangeetha, aka Bebamma, the daughter of Rayanam (Vijay Sethupathi).
Here’s why Vijay Sethupathi refused to work with Krithi for the second time
While promoting his actioner Laabam, Vijay revealed that the makers of the film wanted to pair him with Krithi. However, Vijay wasn’t comfortable being paired with an actress who has played her daughter. Vijay revealed that he can never romance her on-screen.
While speaking to News Buzz, Vijay said, “While I was shooting for Labham, the makers said they were planning to rope in Krithi Shetty for the female lead role in the film. At that time, Uppena was in the making as well. In Uppena, Krithi Shetty played my daughter. Incidentally, the makers of Laabam were contemplating the idea of roping in Krithi Shetty for the female lead role to act alongside me. But I immediately turned down their advancements. How can I romance an actress who is playing my daughter in a film that is also shot simultaneously? This would have been such an awkward experience. I rejected the prospect of Krithi Shetty playing my love interest in Laabam.”
Vijay has always considered Krithi as his daughter. After Vijay refused Krithi opposite him, the makers finalised Shruti Haasan as the leading lady. After Jawan, Vijay will be seen in Ghost.
