An old video of Shah Rukh Khan responding to why he works with ‘actresses half her age’ goes viral.
Shah Rukh Khan is currently enjoying the worldwide success of his latest release Jawan. The actor has worked with almost all the A-list actresses like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, and Anushka Sharma. An old video of the actor responding to why he works with ‘actresses half his age’ is going viral.
A Reddit user shared an old video of Shah Rukh Khan responding to why he works with actresses half her age. In the video, he can be seen talking to Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, and Rohan Joshi for their podcast and saying, “(People said) he’s over, he’s done with, he’s old, he’s working with… I’m the only hero, whenever I’m working with a young girl, it’s because only young girls are working now, I am really sorry.”
Srk on working with actress less in age than him , he made a valid point tho if he insisted farah nd adi during OSO nd Rabne toh shayad deepika aur anushka ko itna bada break kahi aur se milta kya? Bollywood Mai

He further added, “And I can’t go and tell them to grow up. If Alia asks me ‘Can I do a film?’, I can’t say, ‘No, first grow up.’ You can’t be that kind of person. I don’t say that to people. So they say, ‘Oh, he’s working with girls half his age.’ But they are the only ones working, so I can’t send them home, break their hearts, or tell the director to cast them on the basis of age and ignore their talent.”
He concluded, “That can’t happen, I have to work with whatever is offered to me. Because I play a lover, am I not supposed to age? How am I supposed to be? I keep a beard also, I have done everything.”
When Deepika Padukone made her debut with Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, the actress was 21 years old whereas Shah Rukh was 42. Nayanthara, who is Shah Rukh’s Jawan co-star, is also 19 years younger than him.
The video divided the netizens, while some came in support of the actor, others didn’t agree with his statement. One of the comments read, “Only young girls are working now – This statement
speaks so much about the industry. Actresses of his age are no longer playing lead roles.” Another wrote, “Umar dekhoge ya talent” is fucking tone-deaf. Is he implying the older (still far younger than SRK) leading female actors are not talented? Because that’s b.s.” Another comment read, “I love this interview of his!”
Shah Rukh Khan’s much-anticipated movie Jawan hit the theatres on Thursday and has created a stir at the box office. Helmed by Atlee, the movie also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi along with others in key roles. Produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, the movie opened to a positive response from the audience and has been garnering immense love.
