Vijay Varma talks about his upcoming Netflix film Jaane Jaan, which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Kareena Kapoor.
Vijay Varma is in the form of his life. The actor, who has won plaudits for his performances in Dahaad and Kaalkoot will next be seen in a film – Jaane Jaan. The Sujoy Ghosh directorial sees the actor alongside Kareena Kapoor and Jaideep Ahlawat. In a candid chat with DNA, Vijay opened up about the experience of working in the film and sharing the screen with the two actors.
Jaane Jaan is an adaptation of the Japanese novel The Devotion of Suspect X. Talking about sharing screen space with accomplished actors like Jaideep and Kareena, Vijay says, “Just like any cricket team, when you have good teammates, your game improves, and the audience likes it. Jaideep and I go long back. We have studied together so I had that comfort zone. From doing theatre exercises together to being on set together today, it has been a long journey. He is one of my favourite actors currently so he does make it easier.”
He reserves some special praise for Kareena and adds, “Kareena is everyone’s favourite. Her work is iconic that today auditions are conducted using her lines and based on her characters. She has created a type. Now, in this film, she will be seen in a whole new avatar, something the audience has never seen before. It is a very inspiring performance.”
Vijay says that he always selects projects where he finds that his co-stars are ‘brilliant’, regardless of their stardom. “When my playmates, as in my co-actors, are brilliant, I feel it makes my work easier. In fact, it makes everyone’s work easier, from the director to other departments too. I choose my work keeping this in mind that I get to work with good artistes, whether it is Pink or Gully Boy. I don’t care if the actor has name or fame but they should be good,” shares the actor.
Jaane Jaan, produced under the banner 12th Street Entertaiment and Northern Lights Films in association with Kross Pictures and Balaji Motion Pictures, will be releasing on Netflix on September 21.
