Vijay Deverakonda defends Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi’s dull phase at box office – Top Speed News

Vijay Deverakonda has opened up about the unaffected stardom of Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi even after giving back-to-back flops.

After giving a commercial disaster Liger, Vijay Deverakonda is hopeful to bounce back with the romantic drama Kushi. While promoting his upcoming film Kushi, Vijay shared his views on hits and flops, and how superstars like Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi’s stardom doesn’t get affected even if they give back-to-back flops.

In a press conference shared by trade analyst Manobala Vijayabala, The actor was asked to comment about the low phase in Rajinikanth’s career and his recent film Jailer, which went on to gross Rs 500 crores worldwide. Sharing his thoughts about Rajinikanth, Vijay said, “Superstars are beyond hits and flops. Rajini sir can have six flops back-to-back, he will come and do Jailer, which is Rs 500 crores. We all have to shut up and watch.”

As India TV reported, Vijay also defended Chiranjeevi’s dull phase at the box office, and said, “He can also give back-to-back flops, but if he meets a director with the right energy, he will come back with a sensation, just like he did with Sankranti. Chiru sir changed the industry. When he came, the kind of action that was there, the kind of dance that was there, and the kind of performance that was there, all changed entirely. He inspired many people to enter the industry.” For the unversed, Chiranjeevi’s last film Bhola Shankar, which was released with Jailer, tanked miserably at the box office.

Last week, Vijay and Dulquer Salmaan collaborated and promoted each other films. Dulquer dropped a video on his YouTube channel, titled Kushi X King of Kotha. In the 19-minute video, the two had a fun-filled conversation about their career and expressed their affection for each other. Vijay pointed out that after giving a lackluster actioner Liger, he’s bringing a romantic drama, Kushi. And Dulquer, on the other side, is bringing a massy entertainer King of Kotha after the super-successful Sita Ramam.

Referring to the dismal box office collection of Liger, Vijay said, “I hope your action film does better than mine.” The two then had a hearty laugh. Dulquer replied, “I hope your love story blows up like mine.” Vijay and Samantha-starrer Kushi will release in cinemas on September 1.
