Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 is the third Hindi film to earn over Rs 500 crore in India after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi).
Directed by Anil Sharma and headlined by Sunny Deol, Gadar 2 continues to dominate the box office as the action-packed sequel has now crossed the Rs 500 crore mark in India, becoming the third Hindi film to achieve this rare feat after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi).
This has also made Gadar 2 the fastest film to achieve this landmark as Sunny Deol-starrer breached the Rs 500 crore mark on is fourth Sunday (September 3), which is the 24th day since its theatrical release on August 11. Pathaan and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion had taken 28 and 34 days to do the same.
Talking about its worldwide collection, the Anil Sharma directorial has collected Rs 655 crore at the global box office and has surpassed Baahubali 2: The Beginning, becoming the tenth highest-grossing Indian film. The film has collected Rs 590 crore gross in India and Rs 65 crore from the overseas markets.
Set before the 1971 Indo-Pak war, the Sunny Deol film takes forward the story seventeen years after the events in the first part. Sunny Deol’s Tara Singh crosses the border to rescue his son Jeete aka Charanjeet Singh, played by director Anil Sharma’s son Utkarsh Sharma, in the blockbuster. Anil Sharma had also helmed the first part Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in 2001.
On Saturday, September 2, the Gadar 2 team hosted a grand party in Mumbai to celebrate its mammoth success. Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Abhishek Bachchan, Kiara Advani, Sidharth Malhotra, Kriti Sanon, Kartik Aaryan, Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Tabu, Arjun Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Kajol, and many other celebrities attended the event.
