On behalf of Kannada cinema, Shivarajkumar apologises to Siddharth over his Chittha press meet disruption.

Recently, Siddharth grabbed headlines after he was forced to leave his film Chittha’s press meet in between after protestors disrupted the event mid-way. Now, Kannada star Shivarajkumar has apologized to the actor on behalf of Kannada cinema.

While speaking at the protest held by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, Shivarajkumar addressed the issue of Siddharth being forced to leave his press meet and apologized to him on behalf of Kannada cinema. The actor said, “We Kannadigas are very tolerant people. We are known to love films of all languages, and we are appreciated globally for our welcoming nature. What happened with Siddharth was not correct. I apologize to him on behalf of the industry.”

The protest in Gandhinagar was attended by Kannada actors like Darshan, Dhruva Sarja, ‘Duniya’ Vijay, Shruthi, Pooja Gandhi, Bhavana, Sriimurali, Srinigara Kitty, and others. In his speech, Shivarajkumar said, “There is no point in actors gathering for a protest for such an important issue.” He added, “The onus lies on the leaders of both the States (Karnataka and Tamil Nadu) to come up with an amicable solution. The film industry’s support will always be there. Let’s not forget that a farmer’s problem is the same, be it in Karnataka or in Tamil Nadu.”

Prakash Raj also apologized to Siddharth and wrote in his tweet, “Instead of questioning all the political parties and its leaders for failing to solve this decades’ old issue… Instead of questioning the useless parliamentarians who are not pressuring the center to intervene. Troubling the common man and artists like this can not be accepted.. as a Kannadiga .. on behalf of Kannadigas. sorry #Siddharth #justasking.”

Karnataka has been witnessing protests over the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu after the Supreme Court refused to intervene in the decisions of the Cauvery Water Management Authority(CWMA) and its assisting body Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) that directed the state to do so.

Meanwhile, helmed by SU Arun Kumar, Chittha is a Tamil film starring Siddharth, Nimisha Sajayan, Anjali Nair, and Sahasra Shree. The film was released on September 28 and opened to positive reviews from the audience.
