Before impressing the audiences in Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, Manish Wadhwa was on board for this multi-starrer, epic period drama.
If you have loved Tara Singh in Gadar 2, you have despised Major General Hamid Iqbal, aka Manish Wadhwa. The talented actor is garnering praise for perfectly playing the menacing baddie in the latest blockbuster. In 2023, Manish impressed moviegoers twice. Before Gadar 2, he was seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan as Pakistani General Qadir. Both movies have become landmark films, and Manish has supported both films with his evil character.
Well, before Pathaan and Gadar 2 has released, Manish was also signed to be a part of an epic period drama. Manish was signed to play a crucial role in Karan Johar’s highly-anticipated Takht. Karan’s directorial was touted to be a magnum opus with an ensemble cast including Ranveer SIngh, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar. Manish was on board to play a significant role, and the actor himself revealed about it. In a conversation with Bollywood Thikana, Manish told that he signed Takht and the movie was supposed to happen before Pathaan and Gadar 2. Sadly the film got shelved.

The reason why Manish was signed for Takht is the actor’s versatility in the historic drama genre. Before Takht, Manish was seen as Rani Padmavati aka Deepika Padukone’s father in Padmavat (2018). Manish was also an integral part of popular shows such as Peshwa Bajirao and Chandragupta Maurya.
Talking about Gadar 2, Sunny Deol-starrer has collected Rs 300 crores in India. Gadar 2 has also defeated Baahubali 2 (Hindi) to register the best-ever figures by a Bollywood film on its eighth day. The Hindi version of SS Rajamouli’s action drama sequel had collected Rs 19.50 crore on its eighth day and now Gadar 2 sits at the top of this list with The Kashmir Files, Dangal, Pathaan, PK, KGF 2 (Hindi), RRR (Hindi), Sanju, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan occupying the rest ten places.
