Naseeruddin Shah says smaller films like Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, and Gulmohar will find their place he has faith in younger generation.
Naseeruddin Shah, who is one of the most talented actors in the country, revealed he tried to watch SS Rajamouli’s RRR and Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa, but couldn’t watch it. In his recent interview, the actor praised Mani Ratnam and said he is a cpable filmmaker.
While speaking to We Are Yuvaa, Naseeruddin Shah said, “the acceptance of smaller films like Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, Gulmohar will find their place, I am pretty sure because I have great faith in the younger generation. They are far evolved, far more informed. Apart from the thrill, I can’t imagine what you get. I tried to watch RRR but couldn’t, I tried to watch Pushpa, but couldn’t. Although I watched Mani Ratnam’s film. Because he is a very capable filmmaker and has no agenda. And I can’t imagine besides the thrill or feeding the emotions hidden inside you. There is a sense of happiness that often lingers for several days after watching. I can’t imagine, I would never go to watch such films.”
Earlier, during a recent interview, Naseeruddin Shah said it’s disturbing that films like Kashmir Files are so massively popular. While speaking to the Free Press Journal, on being asked if the ‘objective of filmmaking has changed in Bollywood,’ the actor-director replied,” Yes! Now the more jingoist you are the more popular you become, because this is what has been ruling this country. It’s not enough to love your country but beat drums about it and you have to create imaginary enemies. What these people don’t realise is that what they are doing is very harmful.”
He added, “In fact, films like Kerala Story and Gadar 2, I haven’t seen them but I know what they are about, it’s disturbing that films like Kashmir Files are so massively popular whereas films made by Sudhir Mishra, Anubhav Sinha, and Hansal Mehta, who are trying to portray the truth of their times don’t get seen. But it’s important that these filmmakers don’t lose heart and continue telling stories.”
