Karan Johar said he as excited to watch Kangana Ranaut’s directorial debut Emergency.
Has Karan Johar buried the hatchet with Kangana Ranaut? That seemed to be the question on everyone’s lips recently after the filmmaker seemed to praise Kangana’s upcoming film Emergency in an interview. There is no love lost between Kangana and Karan as the actress has been a vocal critic of the filmmaker for years now.
Recently, while speaking with Indian Express, Karan Johar was in a candid mood, talking about everything from Kangana’s upcoming film to the charge of bloated and inflated box office figures of films. During the interaction, Karan was asked about one political event that he would want to watch on screen, to which he replied, “The Emergency is being made and I am excited to watch it.” The film marks the directorial debut of Kangana and the actress also plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in it.
Very recently, Kangana had criticized Karan’s latest release Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, referring to it as a ‘poor film full of fake sets and over the top fake costumes’. She had also expressed doubt over the box office figures of the film, hinting that producers often inflate them. In the interaction with IE, when Karan was asked if producers do that, the filmmaker – who heads Dharma Productions – simply said, “We are all liars. We are all big fat liars.” Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has reportedly crossed Rs 300 crore at the box office worldwide. Needless to say, Karan’s statements shocked many fans, who took to social media wondering why he was being nice to Kangana and calling out his own fraternity.
Kangana had recently taken to her Instagram Stories and written, “Audience can’t be fooled anymore. They have rejected atrocious and creatively poor films full of fake sets and over the top fake costumes, who dresses like this in real life also where are tacky houses like those in Delhi??? What rubbish!!!! Shame on Karan Johar for copying his own vintage movies of the nineties… also how come he spend 250 cr on this stupidity? Who gives them this kind of money’s while real talent struggle to get funds !!!”
