Imran Khan also shared why I Hate Luv Storys’ title was misspelled, says “the orthographic butchery was done in service of numerology”.
Imran Khan has been sharing BTS photos and interesting details about his films on Instagram since the past few days. On Tuesday, September 12, he chose the 2010 romantic comedy I Hate Luv Storys, which paired him opposite Sonam Kapoor and marked the directorial debut of Punit Malhotra.
Revealing why the title was misspelled, Imran wrote, “I Hate Luv Storys; First, let’s address the spelling of the title, which always made me feel like I was wearing my shoes on the wrong feet. The orthographic butchery was done in service of numerology, which I personally never bought into, but here we are 13 years later still talking about the film’s popularity, so what do I know.”
He also talked about his relationship with his director Punit and co-star Sonam, as he added, “What can I tell you about making this film; I instantly hit it off with Punt Malhtra and we quickly developed a great working relationship. And the ethereal Sonam Kapoor as my costar, as you can imagine, it wasn’t much of a challenge to spend those months staring admiringly at her, playing the part of a guy falling in love.”
Imran also shared how some of the characters in the film were based on real-life people from Bollywood. “The energy was amazing, and since we were telling a story about the movie business, there was an extra twinkle in everyone’s eyes, and we always cracked up while filming scenes that we knew were based on reality…everybody knows the famous director who inspired the scene where Samir Soni punishes his ADs like a schoolteacher, or Aamir Ali’s movie star who needs massive cue cards for his lines!”, he wrote.

Along with the lengthy post, Imran shared five photos from the behind the scenes and concluded his thoughts, “I have so many pictures from the shoot of this film, it was hard to choose just a few but it’s still plain to see how much fun we all had.”
Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Ronnie Screwvala’s now-defunct UTV Motion Pictures, I Hate Luv Storys was a box office hit as it had the reported budget of Rs 25 crore and grossed Rs 70 crore worldwide.
