According to Sippy, he watched the film in theatre with the audience and did not notice any negative feedbacks anywhere and three weeks after the release of the film people started repeating the dialogues of the film and were coming to theatres to wathc the film again and again.

In its first run from 1975 to 1980, Sholay’s total earnings was Rs 15 crore. The lifetime worldwide box office collection of Sholay is Rs 30 crore and the inflation-adjusted box office collection of the film comes to Rs 1884 crore, according to Bollywood Movie Reviewz.
