Anushka Sharma reshared Virat Kohli’s request to his friends ahead of the ICC World Cup and added two bits of her own.
The ICC World Cup is almost upon us. Cricket’s biggest tournament begins from Thursday and continues till a new World Champion will be crowned next month. The Indian team, as always, enter as one of the favourites. And one of their talismans is star batter Virat Kohli. But on the tournament’s eve, Kohli has one other concern too, which is shared by his wife, actress Anushka Sharma too.
On Wednesday, Virat took to Instagram to urge his friends to not request him for tickets to matches at the World Cup. On a note on Instagram Stories, the cricketer wrote, “As we approach the World Cup, I would humbly like to let all my friends know to not request me for tickets at all through the tournament. Enjoy from your homes pls.” Virat ended his note with a smiley face emoji.
Minutes later, Anushka reshared Virat’s note from her handle, adding a message from her side as well. “And let me just add…please don’t request me to help if your messages get unanswered. Thank you for understanding.”
Within minutes, the two stories were shared by fan clubs across social media with several tongue-in-cheek reactions. “Now I will never get a ticket,” joked one fan. Another wrote, “Yahi aakhiri umeed thi (This was my last hope).” Many praised the couple for their sense of humour, calling them ‘couple goals’.
Virat Kohli left the Team India camp on Tuesday and returned to Mumbai briefly for what was described as a ‘personal emergency’. This happened amid rumours and reports claiming that Anushka is pregnant with their second child. However, neither Virat, nor Anushka have commented on the matter so far. Virat is expected to connect back with the team ahead of the tournament’s start on Thursday.
Anushka, meanwhile, is awaiting the release of her film Chakda ‘Xpress, which sees her play former Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. The Prosit Roy film will release on Netflix.
