According to reports, Alia Bhatt is no longer a part of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
Nitesh Tiwari recently impressed fans with his directorial Bawaal starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. Recently, the reports of him making Ramayana with Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Yash as Ravana have been doing rounds on social media. It was also reported that Alia Bhatt will be essaying the role of Sita in the movie, however, if the reports are to be believed, the actress is no longer a part of the movie.
According to reports, sources said that no name has been finalised as of now and the team is still working on the casting process, “Nitesh Tiwari, Madhu Mantena, and Namit Malhotra are working slowly and super steadily towards the big project Ramayana. The makers are in no hurry and taking enough time before every step they finalize.”
He added, “There were speculations about Ranbir Kapoor which is true. But any actress has ever been approached for any role in Ramayana, in fact, the film has not yet reached the stage where they offer Sita’s role to anyone, nobody has been approached yet for the role of Sita. They are just working on Ravana and for that, Yash has undergone multiple look tests recently. The finalization of Yash is yet to be decided.”
He further revealed that the casting of Sita and Hanuman is still pending and said, “The casting of Sita and Hanuman will take some time, a few months for sure. The makers do not want any stone unturned. They want to make a solid project and they are okay with spending a few years on the same. Nitesh Tiwari took 2 years for Dangal as well. He is a dedicated director and takes his own time to finish the good product.”
Nitesh Tiwari wooed fans with his movie Dangal which took 2 years to make. The movie was announced in 2014 and released in 2016 and starred Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra, and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The movie collected Rs 2070 crore at the box office worldwide.
Nitesh Tiwari is best known for his films like Chhichhore, Chillar Party, Bhoothnath Returns, Dangal and Bawaal. The filmmaker is now planning to make a three-part movie based on Ramayana and it is expected to go on floors next year.
