Rachana faced a severe financial crisis post her husband’s demise. That’s when she decided to fight for her survival and started her own venture.

Rags to riches stories always inspire thousands of people to do something with their lives. Today, we are going to talk about a similar story of a self-made entrepreneur, who is making lakhs of rupees per month now after being left penniless post her husband’s passing away. This is the story of Rachana Mohan from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Rachana belongs to a middle-class family and was content with her life, but tragedy struck in 2018 when her husband died after a prolonged illness. Almost all of their money was spent on her husband’s treatment. After his death, Rachana faced a severe financial crisis. It had almost become a hand-to-mouth situation for her, but then she made up her mind to stand on her own feet and do something to come out of the crisis.

Rachana Mohan took a loan of Rs 25 lakh under the Prime Minister Self-Employment Scheme and set up a paper bag-making unit at home. She used the money from the loan to install a paper bag-making machine at her house that cost Rs 14.5 lakh. With the remaining money, she purchased raw materials and started making paper bags herself, working day in and out. She sold these paper bags personally in Shahjahanpur and even adjoining areas.

Having started this at the beginning of last year, in just a year and a half, her business grew exponentially. She now has three dozen employees working under her to run the business. Her monthly turnover is Rs 8 to 10 lakh. Rachana also agreed to invest Rs 5 crore under a memorandum of understanding at the most recent Global Investors Summit.

Talking to News18, Rachna Mohan said that this self-employed venture has been enough to support her family. She acknowledged feeling lost after her husband’s death, but she did not lose courage. She also said her son Puru Mohan also helps in her venture.
