The Madras High Court has directed actor Silambarasan TR aka Simbu to furnish Rs 1 crore security in a legal dispute with a production house over an unfinished film.

Actor Silambarasan TR has been directed by the Madras High Court to furnish security for Rs 1 crore. The order has come in a case against the actor by a production house that had alleged the actor refused to finish their film Corona Kumar despite receiving payment for it. A report has stated that the actor will have to furnish the amount within three weeks.

On Tuesday, The Hindu reported that Justice Abdul Quddhose of Madras High Court issued the direction on an application filed by Vels Film International Limited. The production house had demanded that the actor be restrained from acting in any other film unless he completes their film, titled Corona Kumar.

The production house, in its application had alleged that Silambarasan had agreed to star in the film in 2021 for a total fees of Rs 9.5 crore. The applicant claimed that Rs 4.5 crore was paid to the actor but he refused to fulfil his commitment after that. However, The Hindu reported that on perusing the written agreement between the production house and the actor on July 16, 2021, the judge found that it mentioned a sum of Rs 1 crore having been paid as advance to the actor for appearing in the film. There was no mention of the Rs 4.5 crore as claimed by the production house.

The applicant showed some bank transactions to prove that the producers had paid the remaining amount as well but the court argued that t could not be proved that the sum was for the film only. The court said that if the actor failed to furnish security for Rs 1 crore in three weeks, it would be compelled
