Anurag Kashyap reveals that Neeraj Ghaywan’s ‘voice was shivering’ when they talked after Made In Heaven controversy.
Anurag Kashyap is one of the popular filmmakers in Bollywood who leaves an impact on the audience with his work. The filmmaker has given a lot of actors and helped directors get their first break and one of them is filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan who started as an AD for him. Recently, Neeraj made headlines after the episode directed by him in Made In Heaven 2 got into a controversy. Reacting to it, Anurag revealed how the controversy impacted Neeraj.
In a recent conversation with Film Companion, Anurag Kashyap revealed how Made In Heaven 2 controversy impacted Neeraj Ghaywan and said, “Uss jaise aadmi ko, who is most loved, who has not had a misstep, ek din me maine usko cancel hote dekha hai. (A guy like him…I have seen him getting canceled in one day).”
He added that “When I talked to him, his voice was shivering. When a person like that gets attacked and canceled, yarr mann hi nahi karta hai kiske lie ladu, kyu ladu (I don’t feel like fighting after that, why should I fight for anyone?).”
Earlier, Anurag Kashyap also defended the Made In Heaven makers and said in an interview, “I get scared when people I care about and they get attacked. I get very affected by many things. I have seen the entire journey of say, for example, [Neeraj] Ghaywan, and how much time he took to speak up, find the courage, and find a voice to start speaking out. And then saw him get canceled in a day on social media. I get very affected by that.”
He further called Yashica Dutt, who accused the makers of plagiarism, ‘opportunist’ and said, “It’s a very debatable issue. Anybody can debate. If it’s really that big an issue then why are you attacking that other person, who before you said that I use this word? Then you’re looking for validation, then you’re not really concerned about the issue. Because then you can’t be two-sided. You’re also attacking this guy, and you’re attacking the guy who before you said something in a blog. So you are just looking for validation. For me, it looks like an opportunist. Nothing more than that.”
A Dalit author Yashica Dutt accused the Made In Heaven 2 makers of using her work in Episode 5, without giving her credit. Later, Zoya Akhtar took to her social media and issued a statement denying the claims. The episode in question was directed by Neeraj Ghaywan.
Made in Heaven revolves around the story of two wedding planners in Delhi, where tradition jostles with modern aspirations against the backdrop of big fat Indian weddings revealing many secrets and lies. The second season of the show stars Sobhita Dhulipala, Arjun Mathur, Mona Singh, Radhika Apte, Mrunal Thakur, and Jim Sarbh among others in key roles.
Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap is currently awaiting the release of his directorial Kennedy starring Rahul Bhatt and Sunny Leone. Other than this, he will also be seen playing the antagonist in Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Haddi which is scheduled to release on September 7 on Zee5.
