Recently, the makers of Scam 2023 released the much-awaited trailer of the series directed by Hansal Mehta which revolves around India’s biggest stamp paper scam by Abdul Karim Telgi.
The series stars Gagan Dev in the lead role, he plays Abdul Karim Telgi who was responsible for Rs 30,000 crore stamp paper scam. He grabbed everyone’s attention with his acting skills in in the trailer. Let’s know more about the actor

Indian actor, writer, director, and theater performer Gagan Dev Riar has over 17 years of experience in theatre. He is well known for plays like Stories in a Song, Detective 9-2-11, Baghi Albele and Ok Tata Bye Bye.
Awards
Best known for his role of Sir Toby Belch, this role won him the META Award for Best Supporting Actor 2014 for Piya Behroopiya (A Hindi adaptation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night). He also won the well-reputed Vinod Doshi Fellowship Award in 2013 for young theatre professionals.
On-screen presence
On screen, he was seen in the web-series not fit and A Suitable Boy. He was also seen in the feature film, Sonchiriya. He was then seen at Off Broadway NY which made his debut there with Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding Musical in 2023.
On the work front:
Gagan Dev Riar will be seen as the lead in the upcoming series, Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, produced by Applause Entertainment in association with StudioNEXT. Directed by Tushar Hiranandani and helmed by the National award-winning director Hansal Mehta.
In a recent interview, the actor revealed that he was about to work in Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. As per The Times of India report, he said, “If not for date issues, I would have been part of the first season of Scam. I was the first choice for the character of Sitaraman, the SBI manager who was at the centre of the whole securities scam, which was played by Jamini Pathak. However, at that time I was busy with a project and couldn’t take on the role. And later Telgi came into the picture. In the end it all worked out somehow, I did eventually get to be part of the Scam series, this time, as Abdul Karim Telgi.”
